The Faroese Women's Football Championship 2016 was held in the first Faroese league called 1. Deild and was the 32nd season overall. It started on March 20, 2016 and ended on October 8, 2016.

Promoted B68 Toftir returned to the top division after twelve years. Champion was defending champion KÍ Klaksvík , who could win the title for the 17th time in a row and for the 18th time overall.

Compared to the previous season, the goal rate worsened to 4.60 per game. KÍ Klaksvík achieved the highest victory with a 14-0 home game against B68 Toftir on matchday seven, which was also the highest-scoring game.

Season course

Up to the 14th matchday KÍ Klaksvík and EB / Streymur / Skála were tied, the three direct duels each ended in a draw, otherwise no further point losses were recorded. On matchday 15, EB / Streymur / Skála lost their home game against B36 Tórshavn 2-0, and both teams won the next four matches.
