1st Deild 2000

The Faroese Women's Football Championship 2001 was held in the 1st Deild called first Faroese league and was the 17th season overall. It started on April 16, 2001 and ended on September 22, 2001.

The promoted B68 Toftir and B71 Sandur returned to the top division after three years and a half-year respectively. Champion was defending champion KÍ Klaksvík , who could win the title for the third time. However, B71 Sandur had to relegate after a year of first class.

Compared to the previous season, the goal rate worsened to 4.53 per game, which was the lowest average since 1996 . The biggest win achieved KÍ Klaksvík with a 17-0 in the away game against B71 Sandur on the last day of the finals, which was also the most goal-scoring game.

mode

By reducing to four teams in the 1st Deild , each team initially played twice against each other in a preliminary round on six match days. The last placed also had to play two relegation games against the third placed in the 2nd Deild to remain in the 1st Deild and participate in the final round. In addition, the two teams with the best points in the preliminary round took part in the 2nd Deild in the final of the 1st Deild and played the champions there, the last team in the final was relegated to the 2nd Deild . In the event of a tie, the direct comparison decided for the first time.

Season course

Championship decision

B36 Tórshavn lost the first game of the final round away with 0: 2 against KÍ Klaksvík , but temporarily topped the table with two wins, as KÍ lost 3-0 to VB Vágur on matchday two and had to give up the lead to them, whereby VB lost 1: 2 in a direct duel against B36 on the third matchday. Due to the better goal difference, KÍ pushed past on the fourth matchday and should not give up the table lead, as all other games of the season were won, including the second leg in a direct duel against the team from B36 Tórshavn on matchday six with 2: 0. The championship decision was made on the penultimate day of the match, when B36 lost 1-0 in the city derby against HB Tórshavn and KÍ celebrated a 17-0 win at B71 Sandur .

Relegation battle

B71 Sandur finished from the first to the last day of the final round. The only victory came on the third matchday through a decision at the green table , as HB Tórshavn did not appear for the game. After the ninth matchday and the 0:17 home defeat against KÍ Klaksvík, relegation was also mathematically certain, and direct rival B68 Toftir won his home game 2-0 against VB Vágur.
