Paula Sjóstein (born February 17, 1983 ) is a former Faroese soccer player .

Sjóstein played for KÍ Klaksvík since her youth . She played her first competitive game in 1999 as a defender at the age of 15 in the semi-final first leg of the Cup against LÍF Leirvík , which was lost 1-0 away. In the first division Simonsen made his debut on the second match day in the 7-1 away defeat against VB Vágur . The next year she played mostly as a goalkeeper . There the double from championship and cup could be achieved by a 2-0 victory in the cup final against HB Tórshavn . The team included Rannvá Biskopstø Andreasen , Malena Josephsen , Annelisa Justesen , Bára Skaale Klakstein and Ragna Biskopstø Patawary . A year later, now back to the end of her career as a defender, Sjóstein scored her first goal on matchday ten of the first division in an 11-1 home win against HB Tórshavn. Apart from a one-year hiatus in 2004, she played for the club until 2009 and achieved eight other championship titles and five cup wins, among others with Randi Wardum and Olga Kristina Hansen . In 2015 she played again in three games for AB Argir / B36 Tórshavn .

European Cup

Sjóstein was used in 14 games for the club in the UEFA Women's Cup , for the first time in 2001/02 in the preliminary round in a 2-1 win against USC Landhaus Wien . In 2007/08 she played her last European game in a 4-1 defeat by FC Honka Espoo in the first round. She didn't manage to score in the encounters.

National team

In 2001 Sjóstein played three European Championship qualifiers for the U-19 team in their country. It was not considered for the senior national team .
