The Faroese Football Championship for women in 1990 was held in the 1. Deild called first Faroese league and was the sixth season overall. It started on April 29, 1990 and ended on September 22, 1990.
Promoted VB Vágur was the 15th participant in the top division. Master was Skála ÍF , who could win the title for the first time. Defending champion HB Tórshavn finished in second place. However, GÍ Gøta had to relegate for the first time as a founding member of 1. Deild .
Compared to the previous season, the goal rate worsened to 3.18 per game, which after 1993 and 1992 meant the third lowest average since the introduction of the 1st Deild in 1985 . The highest victory achieved KÍ Klaksvík with a 9-0 in the home game against VB Vágur on the eleventh matchday, which at the same time was next to the 2: 7 between GÍ Gøta and Skála ÍF on the ninth matchday the highest goal game.
mode
In the 1st Deild , each team played twice against each other on 14 match days. The team with the best points at the end of the season was clear as champions of this league, the last team relegated to the 2nd Deild .
Season course
Championship decision
Both HB Tórshavn and VB Vágur started the season with three wins. On the fourth matchday both teams lost, VB at home with 1: 2 against KÍ Klaksvík and HB with 0: 2 against B36 Tórshavn . Then Skála ÍF , who previously lost to HB 4-0 at home on matchday three, took the lead with a 6-0 home win against ÍF Fuglafjørður due to the better goal difference, with four teams now tied. After B36 lost 1-0 on the following day in the away game against ÍF, there was now a three-way battle for first place, with only Skála and HB tied on points due to VB Vágur's 2-0 home defeat against Skála ÍF on the sixth day. Skála benefited from HB Tórshavn's 2-1 home defeat against VB on the next match day, as they won 2-0 at home against B36 Tórshavn. The gap widened as HB also lost the next game away against ÍF Fuglafjørður 2: 3. The second leg between HB and Skála then followed on matchday ten, with HB winning 3-0 in the home stadium. The lead was reduced to one point by the 1-1 draw in Skála's away game against ÍF and HB's 6-0 win in the derby against B36 the next day. The next two games could both Skála ÍF and HB Tórshavn win each, so that the last game day brought the decision. HB won the away game against VB Vágur 2-1, but Skála ÍF won away against B36 Tórshavn with the same result, so that Skála was the champions.
Relegation battle
GÍ Gøta remained goalless in the first seven games, only in the 0-0 draw in the away game against direct rivals EB Eiði managed to win a point. In the second leg against EB the second point was won at 1: 1, the third and last point was won the next day at 1: 1 in the away game against VB Vágur. EB, however, managed at least one win in the 2-1 home game against ÍF Fuglafjørður, which was enough to break away from GÍ Gøta. The decision about relegation was made on the last match day. EB Eiði managed to stay up on his own with a 0-0 home game against KÍ Klaksvík, while GÍ lost all chances by losing 3-0 at home to ÍF Fuglafjørður.
