Maria Amalia of Brandenburg
Maria Amalia von Brandenburg (born November 26, 1670 in Cölln , today in Berlin ; † November 17, 1739 at Bertholdsburg Castle in Schleusingen ) was a princess and margravine of Brandenburg from the house of Hohenzollern and, by marriage, duchess of the Electoral Saxon secondary school -Duchy of Saxony- Zeitz .

She was the daughter of the "Great Elector" Friedrich Wilhelm of Brandenburg from his second marriage to Dorothea Sophie of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg , daughter of Duke Philip of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg .
Life
As a duchess, she visited the Wilhelmsbrunnen in 1709 , the expansion of which as a bathing resort she significantly promoted.
She died at the age of 69 in the former residential town of Schleusingen in Henneberg , which she received as Wittum after the death of her husband , and was buried in the princely crypt of St. Martin's Church in Kassel due to the connection between her daughter and the Hessian dynasty .
Marriage and offspring
Her first marriage was on August 20, 1687 in Potsdam with Hereditary Prince Karl zu Mecklenburg , son of Duke Gustav Adolf, Duke of Mecklenburg and Magdalena Sibylla of Schleswig-Holstein-Gottorf . On March 15, 1688, her husband Karl died of peeling and their only child together while giving birth.
Her second marriage was on June 25, 1689 in Potsdam, Duke Moritz Wilhelm von Sachsen-Zeitz , son of Duke Moritz von Sachsen-Zeitz and Dorothea Maria von Sachsen-Weimar , whom she survived by 21 years. The following children emerged from the connection:
