Princess Marie Elisabeth Wilhelmine of Baden (born  September 7, 1782 in Karlsruhe , † April 20, 1808 in Bruchsal ) was a member of the House of Baden and by marriage, Duchess of Braunschweig and Lüneburg and von Oels, as well as Princess of Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel .

origin

Marie was the fifth daughter of Hereditary Prince Karl Ludwig von Baden (1755–1801) and his wife Amalie (1754–1832), daughter of Landgrave Ludwig IX. von Hessen-Darmstadt and Princess Henriette Karoline von Pfalz-Zweibrücken . Her paternal grandparents were Grand Duke Karl Friedrich von Baden and his first wife, Princess Karoline Luise von Hessen-Darmstadt .

Marriage and offspring

On November 1, 1802 Princess was Marie von Baden in Karlsruhe with Duke Friedrich Wilhelm of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel-Oels (1771-1815), fourth son of the Duke Karl Wilhelm Ferdinand of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel and Princess Royal Augusta of Great Britain and Ireland married, . The marriage had three children:

Flight and Exile

The Principality of Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel was incorporated into the Kingdom of Westphalia in 1807 , which was ruled by Emperor Napoleon 's younger brother Jérôme Bonaparte . Duchess Marie fled with her children to her brother Karl and lived in Pforzheim until her early death , where she was buried in the royal crypt.
