Maria Fein
Maria Fein (born April 7, 1892 in Vienna , † September 15, 1965 in Zurich ) was an Austrian actress and theater director .
Life
Fein was born a Jew, but was baptized Catholic at an early age. She was educated in Vienna , then moved to Dresden , where she got several important theater roles under the direction of Walter Bruno Iltz . She later performed in Berlin and Düsseldorf . She got her first film role in 1916.
Under Max Reinhardt, Fein initially took part in many premieres of contemporary authors in Berlin, but also played the major roles in classical drama. Together with Max Reinhardt, she directed the theater in der Josefstadt in Vienna from 1936 . She also toured Europe and even the USA with her own acting group. Maria Fein has also directed several important productions in theater history, namely Cocteau's Infernal Machine at the Lucerne Festival and Elektra von Giraudoux .
Maria Fein was married to fellow actor Theodor Becker , with whom she had two daughters: Thea Becker and the actress Maria Becker .
