Mariam Semyonovna Atlas

Mariam Semjonovna Atlas ( Russian Мариам Семёновна Атлас ; * December 21, 1911 July / January 3,  1912 greg. In Astrakhan ; † August 17, 2006 in the dacha settlement Valentinovka in Korolev ) was a Soviet - Russian economist and university teacher .

Life

Atlas' father was a country doctor and died of typhus , whereupon she and her mother came to live with relatives in Samara in the early 1920s . There she attended high school and the music technology center with graduation in 1928 with distinction. Then she studied at the economics - Faculty of Kazan University with degree in 1930 as one of the best. Then it was as a credit inspector in the Tatar branch of Gosbank sent. She graduated from 1933-1936 in Moscow, the aspirantur at the credit economy institute .

In 1936, Atlas became an administrative assistant at Gosbank and headed the loan planning sector . In 1938 she returned to the Institute of Credit Economics as a lecturer. After the evacuation at the beginning of the German-Soviet War , she headed a department of the Tatar office of Gosbank.

From 1943 Atlas taught at the Moscow Financial Institute, which had been created from the Credit and Economics Institute . In 1945 she was appointed lecturer and headed the Chair of Political Economy from 1957 (until 1987). In 1955, after defending her dissertation on the history of Gosbank from 1921 to 1954 , she received her doctorate in economics . In 1959 she was appointed professor . She worked there until 1992, headed the Scientific Student Society and supervised more than 100 candidate dissertations and 30 doctoral dissertations.

Atlas was married to the economist Gennady Mikhailovich Sorokin and had a daughter, Sofja Gennadjewna. Her cousin was the economist Sachari Weniaminowitsch Atlas .

Atlas was buried in the Vvedenskoye cemetery .
