Mariano Crociata (born March 16, 1953 in Castelvetrano , Trapani province , Italy ) is Bishop of Latina-Terracina-Sezze-Priverno .

Life

Mariano Crociata studied at the Episcopal Seminary of Mazara del Vallo . He received his doctorate in Catholic theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome . The ordination received Mariano Crociata on 29 June 1979. From 1985 to 1989 he was pastor in Marinella di Selinunte , 1989-2003 Archpriest of the Chiesa Madre of Marsala . From 2003 he was vicar general of the diocese of Mazara del Vallo .

On July 16, 2007, Mariano Crociata was founded by Pope Benedict XVI. appointed Bishop of Noto . The episcopal ordination on 6 October 2007 in the Cathedral of Noto gave him the Archbishop of Palermo , Paolo Romeo ; Co-consecrators were Archbishop Nikola Eterović , General Secretary of the Synod of Bishops , and Domenico Mogavero , Bishop of Mazara del Vallo.

Mariano Crociata was delegate for doctrine of the faith and catechesis in the Sicilian Episcopal Conference .

On September 25, 2008 Pope Benedict XVI appointed him. General Secretary of the Italian Bishops' Conference , after which Mariano Crociata resigned as Bishop of Noto.

Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Latina-Terracina-Sezze-Priverno on November 19, 2013 . The inauguration took place on December 15 of the same year. In March 2015, Crociata was elected President of the Commission for Catholic Education in the Italian Bishops' Conference.
