Marina Linares

Marina Linares (* 1967 in Cologne ) is an art historian / cultural scientist , visual artist (performance art / room installation ) and author .

Live and act

Marina Linares studied art history , philosophy , German studies and musicology in Cologne from 1995 to 2001 . She wrote her master's thesis on Bernard Schultze . She also studied theater, film and television studies in Cologne from 2000 to 2001 and later in Hagen psychology (B.Sc.). At the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich she did her doctorate in 2003 with Hubertus coal with an interdisciplinary dissertation on the comparability of painting and music. She systematically worked on analogous structures of the two media and integrated aesthetic positions, art theory and composition theory of music theory as well as approaches from perceptual psychology and cognitive science .

Further research focuses are modern to contemporary art (including Spanish art history), art theory (especially about colors ), multimedia and intermedia art, with interdisciplinary questions and approaches leading the research. Publications include monographs, scientific essays, illustrated books / exhibition catalogs, reviews of contemporary art and lectures at international conferences.

Artistically, her pictorial work develops from painting to sculpture to space. Her conceptual works include drawing, painting, photography, sculpture / object, installation, mixed media , typefaces and intermedia through to complex spatial projects. The focus is on room installations and multimedia performance , in which lyrical texts are often staged with instrumental sounds and scenic action.

As an author of fictional literature, she writes short prose, poetry and dialogues, works with linguistic sound in experimental poetry through to sound poetry . She stages her texts, partly in cooperation with authors, musicians and performers in literary performances and staged readings. Member of various art and literature groups as well as cultural associations, management of projects, literary workshops and seminars.
