Mario Klinger (born December 27, 1986 in Essen ) is a German football player who can be used in defense and midfield. His father is the former Bundesliga player and DFB Cup winner Dietmar Klinger .

youth

In his youth, Mario Klinger was trained by his father, the then Bundesliga professional Dietmar Klinger , at PSV Essen . He then moved to the youth division at FC Schalke 04 .

Seniors

In 2005 he made the leap into the professional squad of FC Schalke 04 and was used in the league cup, which the team also won. In the first season he came, except in the league cup, only one use in the DFB Cup . After this season without Bundesliga use , he played three games in the Oberliga Westfalen for Schalke's second team. In September 2006 he moved to KSV Hessen Kassel and scored two goals in 28 games for the regional division. After only one season he left the club and switched to Rot-Weiss Essen , who had been relegated from the 2nd Bundesliga to the Regionalliga Nord. On July 24, 2012, Klinger signed a one-year contract with Eintracht Trier . He then moved to league rivals FC 08 Homburg for one season . In September 2014 he signed the SG Wattenscheid 09 , where he also took over the captain's armband . After two years he left Lohrheide and joined FC Kray . After Klinger and Kray were relegated from the Oberliga to the Landesliga in the 2016/17 season , he moved to TVD Velbert . There he took over the position of player-coach. Despite leading the table, he was dismissed in April 2018 after a negative series and replaced by Hüzeyfe Doğan .
