Marit Myrmæl (born January 20, 1954 in Trondheim , Sør-Trøndelag ) is a former Norwegian cross-country skier .

Myrmæl first attracted international attention in 1976 when she became Norwegian cross-country champion over 5 kilometers. She qualified directly for the 1976 Winter Olympics in Innsbruck . There she reached positions 18 and 24 over 5 and 10 kilometers respectively. With her colleagues Berit Aunli , Berit Johannessen and Grete Kummen , she finished fifth in the relay race over four times 5 kilometers. In the following years, Myrmæl became national champion several times: 1977 over 20 kilometers, in 1979 over 10 and 20 kilometers. At her second Olympic Winter Games in Lake Placid in 1980 , she won the bronze medal in the relay, together with her teammates Aunli, Anette Bøe and Brit Pettersen . In the individual races over 5 and 10 kilometers, she finished 18 and 20. Two years later, Myrmæl competed at the Ski World Championships on Holmenkollen in Oslo and finished 6th over 20 kilometers. That same year she came second in the Falun World Cup over the same distance. With rank 7 over 10 kilometers, Myrmæl achieved her best individual Olympic result at the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo . In the competition over 20 kilometers, she also took 14th place.

Myrmæl was also active in cross-country skiing . In 1978 she became Norwegian champion over 10 kilometers in this sport.

After the end of her active career, Myrmæl worked for the Norwegian Olympic Committee and was involved in organizing the 1997 Nordic World Ski Championships in Trondheim .
