Marius Grundmann
Marius Grundmann (born November 14, 1964 in Berlin ) is a German physicist , university professor and since 2002 director of the Felix Bloch Institute for Solid State Physics at the University of Leipzig .
Life
Grundmann attended elementary school in Berlin-Schmargendorf from 1970 to 1974 . In 1974 he moved to the Gymnasium zum Grauen Kloster , where he graduated from high school in 1982 . Grundmann began studying physics in 1983 at the Technical University of Berlin , which he completed in 1988 with the thesis Pseudomorphic Quantum Wells and Excitonic Effects and the overall grade very well . In 1984 he was accepted by the German National Academic Foundation . From 1988 to 1991 he completed his doctorate at the Technical University of Berlin with Dieter Bimberg , which he completed with the subject of heteroepitaxy from InP to Si and the overall grade summa cum laude . After working as a research associate and as a postdoctoral fellow in the USA, he received a postdoctoral fellowship from the German Research Foundation from 1992 to 1994 . From 1994 to 2000 Grundmann worked as a senior engineer at the Institute for Solid State Physics at the TU Berlin. During this time he completed his habilitation in 1995, whereupon he was awarded the license to teach in 1996 .
In 2000 Grundmann was accepted into the Heisenberg program , after which he was appointed professor at the University of Leipzig in the same year . Since 2002 he has been director of the Institute for Experimental Physics II at the University of Leipzig. During this time he was active as a speaker or coordinator in various international research projects.
Grundmann has written over 450 publications and 3 specialist books, which have been cited over 16,000 times. It has (as of 05/2016) an h-index of 61.
