Markos Ghebremedhin

Markos Ghebremedhin CM (born November 18, 1966 in Shappa , Ethiopia ) is Bishop of the Roman Catholic Church and Vicar Apostolic of Jimma-Bonga in Ethiopia.

Life

Markos Ghebremedhin attended primary school in Shappa and Bonga . He entered the religious community of Lazarists on January 1st, 1988 and took his religious vows on September 26th, 1992 . He studied philosophy and theology at the Capuchin theological faculty in Addis Ababa and was ordained a religious priest on September 19, 1993 . He completed another postgraduate course in spirituality from 1993 to 1995 at Tangaza College in Kenya .

He then took on the following activities: Rector at the small seminary of the Lazarists in Addis Ababa 1995–1998, from 1998 he was pastor in Jimma , in 2001 he was elected provincial of his order, at the same time he was assistant to the apostolic administrator of Jimma-Bonga and deputy chairman of the Conference of Religious Superiors in Ethiopia.

On December 5, 2009, he was appointed Vicar Apostolic of Jimma-Bonga , while being appointed Titular Bishop of Gummi in Proconsulari . The episcopal ordination celebrated Archbishop Berhaneyesus Demerew Souraphiel CM of Addis Ababa on 24 January 2010. The bishops assisted Theodorus van Ruijven CM and Musie Ghebreghiorghis OFM Cap .
