Markus Hausammann (born September 20, 1964 in Münsterlingen ) is a Swiss politician ( SVP ) and national councilor from the canton of Thurgau .

biography

Markus Hausammann completed an apprenticeship as a farmer and as an electrician . He is a master farmer and runs a farm in Langrickenbach , where he also lives. Markus Hausammann is married and has four children.

He started his political career in 1987 as a local councilor in Langrickenbach. From 1988 to 1997 he was mayor and accounting officer of the local community. In 1995 he became mayor of the municipal and later the political municipality of Langrickenbach. He held this office for 16 years until 2011. He was also a member of the Grand Council from 1995 to 2006 . In the National Council elections in 2011 he was elected as the third SVP representative for Thurgau and thus succeeded J. Alexander Baumann .

Markus Hausammann has also been President of the Thurgau Agriculture Association since 2010 and was a member of the board of directors of Thurgau Buildings Insurance from 2006 to 2013 .
