Markus Kurth (born July 30, 1973 in Neuss ) is a former German soccer player and today's coach.

Career

Markus Kurth began his career in Düsseldorf in the youth of SpVgg Benrath 10. He came to Bundesliga club Bayer 04 Leverkusen via BV 04 Düsseldorf , where he played his first professional football matches. In 1995 Hermann Gerland brought him to 1. FC Nürnberg , where he scored a total of 30 goals in 121 games and rose with the club from the Regionalliga to the second division in 1996/97 and even to the Bundesliga in the 1997/98 season . After a season with 1. FC Nürnberg in the Bundesliga, Kurth moved to the second division club 1. FC Köln in 1999 , with whom he was promoted to the Bundesliga in the following season 1999/2000 . After two years with 1. FC Köln in the Bundesliga, he was relegated to the second division again with FC. After a year with 1. FC Köln in the 2nd division, Kurth moved to league rivals MSV Duisburg . He has played a total of 330 professional games in the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 and scored 71 goals.

On August 31, 2007, shortly before the end of the transfer period, Kurth moved to Rot-Weiss Essen in the Regionalliga Nord . In the following 2007/08 season , the Red-Whites rose from the then third-class regional league to the regional league West, which had become fourth-class for the 2008/09 season . After two years with Rot-Weiss Essen in the Regionalliga West and the club's forced relegation after the 2009/10 season , Markus Kurth moved to TSV Germania Windeck .

From July 1, 2011 to November 13, 2012, Kurth was assistant coach at FC Viktoria Köln in the NRW League under coach Heiko Scholz . After Scholz resigned, Kurth temporarily took over as coach. From January 2013 he was assistant coach under Ralf Aussem and was dismissed together with him in May 2013. From June 2013 to May 2014 he was the coach of the upper division Sportfreunde Baumberg . Since July 1, 2014 he has been the coach of the Cologne regional division club SC Köln-Mülheim Nord , which was promoted to regional class A in the 2013/14 season.
