Schelldorf is a district of the town of Tangerhütte in the south of the Stendal district in Saxony-Anhalt .
geography
The place Schelldorf lies between the left bank of the Elbe and an oxbow lake of the Elbe, the sickle-shaped Schelldorfer See - today a nature reserve . The Elbe forms the border with the Jerichower Land district . The cities of Stendal and Tangermünde are north of Schelldorf.
history
The origin of the place name is derived from the word Scholle , as Schelldorf used to be an island in the Elbe.
Schelldorf was first mentioned in a document in 1339. In 1833 and 1901 the place was almost completely destroyed by fires. The rebuilt church could be consecrated in 1903. In 2006 the new church bell was consecrated.
On May 31, 2010, Schelldorf merged with the other municipalities of the Tangerhütte-Land administrative community to form the new town of Tangerhütte.

Economy and Infrastructure
Country roads lead from Schelldorf to Tangermünde, Tangerhütte and Grieben . Regular buses and on-call buses run by Regionalverkehr Westsachsen (RVW) under the brand name stendalbus . In Tangermünde there is a rail connection to Stendal, in Tangerhütte, 16 kilometers away, there are connections to Magdeburg , Stendal and Schwerin .
