The Schelldorfer See is a nature reserve in the town of Tangerhütte (between the districts of Schelldorf and Jerchel ) in the Stendal district in Saxony-Anhalt .

The nature reserve with the registration number NSG 0010 is around 175  hectares . It is almost completely part of the FFH area "Elbaue between Derben and Schönhausen" and the EU bird sanctuary "Elbaue Jerichow" and is completely surrounded by the "Tanger-Elbe lowlands" landscape protection area. The area has been under protection since 1967 (date of regulation: September 11, 1967). The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the district of Stendal.

The nature reserve is located south of Tangermünde in the Middle Elbe Biosphere Reserve . It protects a silting arm of the Elbe . Since the area of ​​the oxbow lake is dammed, it no longer has any connection to the river and is also not subject to the water dynamics. The open water area of ​​the lake is about 25 hectares. The lake is home to various aquatic plants - and floating leaf communities with white water lily , yellow pond rose , various spawning herbs , including blunt-leaved pondweed, spiny pondweed and specular pondweed , water feather , frog bite , crayfish claws and common water hose . In the landing areas are often reed beds of reeds and water vapors and swamp Haarstrang , Schmalblättrigem Cattail , Common Teichbinse , spearwort , Flowering and Lathyrus palustris find. Marsh fern and broad-leaved Merk also grow in the nature reserve.

On the former slip slope on the east side of the Schelldorfer See cabbage thistle meadows and Kleinseggenriede as well as bushes with gray willows , ear willows , laurel willows and buckthorns can be found. Alder trees , English oaks , white willows and hawthorn bushes grow on the former 0.5 to 1.5 meter high impact slope .

The nature reserve offers a habitat for numerous animals. So breed here regularly marsh harrier , Gray Goose , Spotted Crake , Little Crake , pond , reeds and reed warbler , warbler , black tern and the little grebe . The lake is the habitat of numerous fish and dragonflies . The Elbe beaver is also native here. In addition, the nature reserve, which completely from is arable land is surrounded, resting and moulting area for various waterfowl . The area is a drain ditch drains the Elbe.
