The Fenn is a nature reserve in the town of Stendal in the Stendal district in Saxony-Anhalt .

The nature reserve with the registration number NSG 0008 is 6.25  hectares . It is congruent with the FFH area "Fenn in Wittenmoor". The area has been under protection since 1939 (date of regulation: September 20, 1939). The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the district of Stendal.

The nature reserve is located southwest of the Stendal district of Wittenmoor . It protects a boiler bog with typical vegetation. The Fenn lies in a 16 meter deep ice age depression. The moor is surrounded by a moat .

At the core of the fen grow vaginal cotton grass - sphagnum companies with cranberry and rosemary , broom and bell heather . This is followed by a bog forest with bog birch and bog pines . Here are wet locations beak and Grausegge , marsh cinquefoil , marsh clover , purple moor grass and dryopteris carthusiana to find. The edge areas are occupied by alder forest. Here are a flat wetland species such as sedge reed swamp Haarstrang , Iris pseudacorus , Galium palustre , Thelypteris palustris , Scheinzypergrassegge and Epilobium hirsutum to find. Due to the input of nutrients from outside, there are also occurrences of eutrophic species such as broad-leaved cattails , reeds , large water plumes and steamers .

Numerous birds are native to the nature reserve . So live in the Ringgraben u. a. Coot and pond rail . In the area of ​​the swamp and swamp forests, over 30 species of breeding birds have been identified, including grosbeak , marsh tit and willow tit .

Parts of the moor can be walked on and experienced via a dam. Information boards on flora and fauna and the function of the moor were set up along the dam. The nature reserve borders Wittenmoor to the west, north and east. Agricultural areas are connected to the south .
