The Arneburg slope is a nature reserve in the town of Tangermünde in the Stendal district in Saxony-Anhalt .

The nature reserve with the registration number NSG 0009 is 6.62  hectares in size. It is part of the FFH area “Elbaue between Sandau and Schönhausen” and the EU bird sanctuary “Elbaue Jerichow” and is almost completely surrounded by the “Arneburger Hang” landscape protection area. The area has been under protection since May 1, 1961. The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the district of Stendal.

The nature reserve is located south of Arneburg in the Middle Elbe Biosphere Reserve . It represents an as undercut slope of the Elbe incurred steep slope on the left bank of the Elbe under protection of the transition between the plateau of the Altmark plates and marks the Elbe Valley. On the steep slope there is a near-natural hillside forest, which is mainly made up of hornbeam , field elm , field maple and English oak . There are also white elm , norway maple and winter linden and sometimes black locust , which have been used to afforest individual areas. The shrub layer is made up of black elder , red dogwood , single- and double-fingered hawthorn , common hazelnut and dog rose . In addition, are Common hop and White Clematis find. In the herb layer grow z. B. Hairy scallop, hollow larkspur , musk herb and umbellate milk star .

In the south of the nature reserve, a star chickweed, pedunculate oak and hornbeam forest grows with a species-rich herb layer. So here are u. a. Find white swallowwort , lungwort , forest ragweed and blue-red stone seeds . Warmth-loving plants such as meadow sage , panicle , nodding celibate , common ormennig , field litter and ebony marguerite also grow in lighter spots . Feathers can be found in unwooded places .

The forests in the nature reserve with their stands of trees and herbs are the habitat of numerous birds , including the nightingale , blackcap , garden warbler , chiffchaff , dunnock and ortolan . The steep slope offers nesting opportunities for the kingfisher . Furthermore, the nature reserve is the habitat of numerous insects such as butterflies , spiders , including the locally occurring late sloe shrub winter spider, owls , spinners, bugs and leaf beetles . There is also a large number of Roman snails .

On the plateau of the Altmark plates, arable land border the nature reserve. The Elbe floodplain connects to the foot of the slope.
