Ringfurth is a district of the town of Tangerhütte in the south of the Stendal district in Saxony-Anhalt .

geography

The place is on a sliding slope on the left bank of the Elbe , which describes an S-shaped arch here. Tangerhütte is to the northwest, the cities Tangermünde and Stendal north of Ringfurth. The wooded area between the Elbe and Tangiers is mostly flat, but drops down to the Elbe Valley by up to 20 meters. The Elbe forms the border with the Jerichower Land district .

Local division

The districts of Polte and Sandfurth, which are located on the high banks of the Elbe, still belong to the former community and current village of Ringfurth.

history

Ringfurth was first mentioned in 973 in a document from Otto II , Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire (967-983). In it he confirms the donation made by his father and predecessor Otto I by Rinchurst to the Mauritius monastery in Magdeburg (forerunner of Magdeburg Cathedral ). The Ringfurth village church was built in the 16th century.

Sandfurth was founded around 1100 years ago. The Landbuch der Mark Brandenburg from 1375 listed two peculiarities in addition to the usual: the dog grain (otherwise only in trenches and Steinfeld [Altmark ]) and the only one in the entire Urbar a ship mill ( molendinum in Albea ). The land register named Ludolph von Grieben as the landlord , later the village came to the ore monastery of Magdeburg . Elbe shipping had a long tradition , in the first half of the 20th century almost all Sandfurth families lived from this branch of industry.

Polte, located north-east of Ringfurth, arose from a preliminary work of the manor in Bittkau .

On May 31, 2010, Ringfurth merged with the other municipalities of the Tangerhütte-Land administrative community to form the new town of Tangerhütte. As part of the village renewal, the street lighting has been renewed in recent years, sidewalks partially expanded and the fire stations of the Ringfurth and Sandfurth volunteer fire departments renovated on their own initiative.

coat of arms

The coat of arms was approved by the district on May 21, 2010.

Blazon : "In blue a serpentine curved silver pole, accompanied in the bend at the top left by three golden ears and in the bend at the bottom right by a golden anchor."

The colors of the district are - derived from the main coat of arms (stake) and the shield color - silver (white) and blue.

The coat of arms was designed by the Magdeburg heraldist Jörg Mantzsch . It refers to the course of the river Elbe in the catchment area, to the inland navigation once operated by many residents (in the district of Sandfurth there is a monument in honor of the inland boatmen) and to agriculture.

flag

The district flag is striped blue - white - blue (1: 4: 1) (landscape format: stripes running horizontally, lengthwise format: stripes running vertically) and centered with the municipal coat of arms.
