coat of arms

Coat of arms wind mountains

The coat of arms was approved by the district on May 21, 2010.

Blazon : “In red like a slightly lowered drawbar, a confluence of two streams, the two upper, undulating streams tapering towards the edge of the shield are double-banded in blue and silver, the silver-bordered blue stream flowing towards the base of the shield is also wavy, in the corner of the upper streams a continuous black grooved silver Wall with four battlements, the confluence in the lower part accompanied by a lowered golden scythe leaf at the front and a golden oak leaf at the back. "

The colors of the place are - derived from the main coat of arms (wall) and the shield color - white and red.

A forerunner coat of arms already existed in Windberge, which was developed by the municipality in the course of the village renewal in 1996 and has not been approved. From a heraldic point of view, this own creation cannot be approved, but the basic ideas were mostly used and adopted.

Windberge lies in the Altmark. Along with Mittelmark and Neumark, this is one of the ancestral lands of the Mark Brandenburg. The coat of arms of Brandenburg shows the red Brandenburg eagle in silver and the colors of the state are red - silver. For this reason, the shield color red was chosen and the castle tinged silver.

The two blue-silver wavy bars that flow together from the edge of the shield to the center and flow down to the base of the shield as a wider wavy bar, symbolize the many Tangier springs and reflect the geographical situation that they unite here to form the Tangier River.

The golden scythe leaf is symbolic of agriculture, which historically was the main source of income for the population living here. Even today the place is characterized by agriculture.

The golden oak leaf goes into the large forest areas of the district. These stretch far into the Colbitz-Letzlinger Heide area. In addition, the leaf symbolizes the natural surroundings of the village.

The silver tinned wall that grows out of the confluence of the springs stands for the Ottersburg. This is a former Niederungsburg in the Tangier landscape exactly at the confluence of the source streams. Of this castle, only the former castle hill, also called Schlossberg by the locals, can be seen today. Archaeological excavations took place there in 2007. The four battlements of the wall stand as numerical symbols for the four districts of Brunkau, Ottersburg, Schleuß and Windberge.

The coat of arms was designed by Thomas Rystau from Hundisburg.

The district flag is red - white - red (1: 4: 1) striped (landscape format: stripes running horizontally, lengthwise format: stripes running vertically) and centered with the municipal coat of arms.
