The Marmande is a river in France that runs in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and Center-Val de Loire regions. It rises in the municipality of Cérilly and flows 46 kilometers into the urban area of Saint-Amand-Montrond as a right tributary into the Cher . In its upper reaches it was dammed up to the reservoir Étang de Pirot and used to supply water to the former canal Canal de Berry . It reaches the canal east of Charenton-du-Cher , which follows it as a side canal until it flows into the Cher . About two kilometers before reaching Saint-Amand-Montrond, the river crosses the canal in a spectacular way at the same water level.
