Charenton-du-Cher is a French commune with 1,045 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Cher in the region Center-Val de Loire ; it belongs to the arrondissement of Saint-Amand-Montrond and the canton of Dun-sur-Auron (until 2015: canton of Charenton-du-Cher ). The inhabitants are called Charentonnais .
geography
Charenton-du-Cher is located on the Marmande River , as well as on the southern variant of the abandoned Canal de Berry . Charenton-du-Cher is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Le Pondy in the north, Thaumiers in the north and northeast, Vernais in the east and northeast, Ainay-le-Château in the east and southeast, Saint-Bonnet-Tronçais in the south and southeast, Braize in the south , Coust in the southwest, Saint-Pierre-les-Étieux in the west and Arpheuilles in the northwest.
The former route nationale 151bis (today's D951) and the Via Lemovicensis , one of the four historical " routes of the pilgrims in France ", run through the municipality .
