Ardenais is a commune of 200 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the department of Cher in the region Center-Val de Loire ; it belongs to the arrondissement of Saint-Amand-Montrond and the canton of Châteaumeillant (until 2015: canton of Le Châtelet ).

Ardenais is about 52 kilometers south of Bourges . Ardenais is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Marçais in the north, Loye-sur-Arnon in the east, Reigny in the south, Saint-Christophe-le-Chaudry in the southeast, Le Châtelet in the west and Saint-Pierre-les-Bois in the northwest.
