Mornay-sur-Allier is a French commune with a population of 431 (as at 1st January 2017) in the department of Cher in the region Center-Val de Loire ; it belongs to the arrondissement of Saint-Amand-Montrond and the canton of Dun-sur-Auron (until 2015: canton of Sancoins ).

Mornay-sur-Allier is about 55 kilometers southeast of Bourges . The Allier limits the community in the east. Mornay-sur-Allier is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Neuvy-le-Barrois in the north, Mars-sur-Allier in the northeast, Langeron in the east, Livry in the southeast, Château-sur-Allier in the south and Sancoins in the west.
