The inhabitants are called Germignois .

Germigny-l'Exempt is located about 45 kilometers east-southeast of Bourges and about 21 kilometers west-southwest of Nevers . Germigny-l'Exempt is surrounded by the neighboring communities Ignol in the north and north-west, La Guerche-sur-l'Aubois in the north and east, La Chapelle-Hugon in the east and south-east, Grossouvre in the south-east, Vereaux in the south, Ourouer-les- Bourdelins to the west and southwest, and Croisy to the west.
