Bannegon is a French municipality with 274 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Cher in the region Center-Val de Loire ; it belongs to the arrondissement of Saint-Amand-Montrond and the canton of Dun-sur-Auron (until 2015: canton of Charenton-du-Cher ).

Bannegon is located about 40 kilometers south-southeast of Bourges on the Canal de Berry . Bannegon is surrounded by the neighboring communities Chalivoy-Milon in the north, Chaumont in the north-east, Neuilly-en-Dun in the east, Bessais-le-Fromental in the south-east, Vernais in the south and south-west and Thaumiers in the west and north-west.
