Martha Stocker

Martha Stocker (born April 19, 1954 in Kematen, Campo Tures ) is a South Tyrolean politician of the SVP .

Life

After training at the Teacher Training Institute (LBA), Stocker worked for some time as a primary school teacher. Stocker then graduated in German and history at the University of Innsbruck , where they face the dissertation contributions to the history of the city of Trento during the time of World War doctorate . From 1978 she began to get involved in various educational and cultural institutions, including the South Tyrolean Students' Union and the Pustertal Adult Education Center . From 1983 to 1998 Stocker was a middle and high school teacher in Bolzano and coordinator of the evening trade high school in Bolzano. She was and is active in numerous committees within the South Tyrolean People's Party: From 1986 to 2000 she was chairwoman of the SVP committee for schools, culture and sport, and since 2006 chairwoman of the statutes commission. She was also active in the regional youth organization and on the board of the Pustertal district . Stocker was the chairwoman of the SVP women's movement from 2000 to 2011.

In 1998 Stocker was elected to the South Tyrolean state parliament for the first time, and at the same time to the regional council of Trentino-South Tyrol . From 2004 to 2009 she served as an assessor in the regional government of Trentino-South Tyrol , from 2004 to 2006 she was also vice-president there. In addition, from 2004 she was Vice-President of the Federal Union of European Nationalities . In the state elections in 2008 Stocker got 16,671 preferential votes. As a result, she was confirmed as assessor of the regional government and was again vice-president from 2009 to 2011. With 21,177 preferential votes, Stocker won a third seat in the 2013 state elections . In November 2013, she briefly assumed the presidency of the state parliament and the vice-presidency of the regional council. From January 2014 she was a member of the South Tyrolean provincial government , in which she was given responsibility for health, sport, social affairs and work in the Kompatscher I cabinet . In the run-up to the state elections in 2018 , she decided not to run again and subsequently retired from active politics.
