Marthin Hamlet Nielsen (born January 17, 1992 in Norway ) is a Norwegian wrestler and professional MMA fighter.

Career

Career as an amateur wrestler

Marthin Hamlet Nielsen started wrestling in Oslo with his brother Marius, who was one year older than him, at the age of five . His first coach was his father Steinar Nielsen. He concentrated on the Greco-Roman style. Over the years he grew to a height of 1.87 meters into the light heavyweight and weighs about 100 kg. In addition to attending school, he devoted himself fully to wrestling. To do this, he went to Gothenburg in 2008 because he saw greater development opportunities at the local wrestling club Örgryte . In summer 2013, however, he moved back to Oslo and wants to prepare for the 2016 Olympic Games there with the support of the Norwegian Wrestling Association. Martin Hamlet Nielsen has also been wrestling in the German Bundesliga since 2011. He started first for the RWG Mömbris-Königshofen and in the 2013/14 season for AC Lichtenfels .

In 2008, at the age of 16, Marthin Hamlet Nielsen became the Norwegian senior champion for the first time, which was followed by three further Norwegian championship titles by 2011. He was or is trained by Frank Steen, Jan Stawowski, Fritz Aanes and Jimmy Lidberg . Since 2007 he has participated in international championships for juniors and since 2011 for seniors. The best results he achieved were a 5th place at the 2010 European Junior Championships in Samokow, a 5th place at the European Championships in Dortmund, where he scored three victories and in the battle for a bronze medal only at the Bulgarian world champion Elis Guri failed, a 5th place at the Junior European Championship 2011 in Zrenjanin and a 3rd place at the Junior World Championship 2012 in Pattaya behind Villius Laurinaitis, Lithuania and Peter Öhler , Germany. In April 2014 he won his first medal at an international championship. That put him in 8th place.

The year 2016 was very disappointing for him. At this year's European Championships in Riga, he only came in 15th place and then he also missed qualifying for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro . He had the chance to do so at the qualifying tournament in Ulaan-Baatar. However, he only finished in 5th place, which is not sufficient for qualification.

Mixed Martial Artist (MMA) career

After the disappointments in 2016 as an amateur wrestler, Marthin Hamlet Nielsen switched to the MMA fighters' camp that same year. He made his amateur MMA debut on November 28, 2016, beating Poland's Tomasz Ponder. In 2017 he then played two fights as a professional MMA fighter, in which he won on April 1, 2017 over Zvonimir Kralj from Sweden and on December 2, 2017 over Hassan Rahat from France.
