Martin Chabada (born June 14, 1977 in Kladno , Czechoslovakia ) is a former Czech ice hockey player who was under contract with EHC Biel in the National League A until the end of the 2012/13 season .
Career
Martin Chabada began his career as an ice hockey player in the youth department of HC Sparta Prague , for whose professional team he was initially active in the Czech extra league from 1996 to 2002 . During this period he won the Czech championship title with Sparta in the 1999/2000 and 2001/02 seasons and was also runner-up with his team in the 2000/01 season . Between 1997 and 1999, the winger was also playing with Sparta in a total of eleven games as a loan player for HC Kometa Brno and HC Kralupy nad Vltavou in the first division , the second Czech division. In the 2002 NHL Entry Draft , he was selected in the eighth round as a total of 252nd player by the New York Islanders . For their farm team Bridgeport Sound Tigers he scored 37 scorer points in a total of 75 games in the 2002/03 season , including 20 goals.
After Chabada had started the 2003/04 season with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers in the AHL, he returned to HC Sparta Prague after only ten games. He led the capital city club in the 2005/06 season as team captain to win the Czech championship again. After the title "hat trick" with Sparta, he went to Sweden, where he played for Luleå HF in the Elitserien , the country's top division , for four years . He then spent the 2010/11 season with his league rivals Södertälje SK , with whom he had to accept relegation to the second-rate HockeyAllsvenskan . In Luleå he was assistant captain from his second year as well as afterwards with Södertälje SK. For the 2011/12 season he was committed by HC Lev Poprad from the Continental Hockey League . At the end of January 2012, the Czech agreed on a contractual relationship with EHC Biel from the Swiss National League A and signed a working paper until the end of the 2011/12 season. After a contract extension, he left the club in 2013 and ended his career as an active ice hockey player. He then worked for various lower-class ice hockey teams in the Czech Republic.

For the Czech Republic , Chabada took part in the Euro Hockey Tour in 2004, 2007 and 2008 .
