Martin Eberhard Freiherr von Jungkenn called Münzer von Mohrenstamm (* around 1679 to 1692 in Freinsheim ; † June 23, 1769 in Adelmannsfelden ) was a Prussian major general and head of the "von Grape" garrison regiment.

Life

origin

He came from the imperial knighthood of Jungkenn. His parents were Johann Emanuel von Jungkenn (1648–1693) and his wife Anne Sophie, née Hildebrand , of the Electorate of the Palatinate, captain of the Dragoons and later a merchant in Frankenthal . One of his nephews was Friedrich Christian Arnold von Jungkenn , who later became Minister of War of Hessen-Kassel .

Military career

Jungkenn first went to the army of the Duke of Württemberg and together with the "Alt-Württemberg" regiment to Hungary. He fought at Peterwardein in 1716 and at Belgrade in 1717 . From here he went to Italy and in 1719 to Sicily. There he fought in the relief of Melazzo , Villafranca and Messina . In 1730 he returned to Germany. From 1733 to 1735 he was involved in the fighting against the French. He was a lieutenant colonel when his regiment entered Prussian service in 1741 as Infantry Regiment No. 46 . On September 17, 1745 he became a colonel and in 1745 commander of the "Riedel" infantry regiment. In 1749 he took over as chief of the "Dohna" infantry regiment and was appointed major general on June 24, 1751. At the beginning of the Seven Years' War in 1757, he and his regiment joined the Allied army and provided the garrison of Magdeburg fortress . In September 1757 he was briefly in the army of the Duke of Braunschweig , but when they marched to Saxony, Jungkenn stayed in Magdeburg. In December he marched to Halberstadt to protect the country against the incursions of the French. But when they advanced against him with 10,000 men, he withdrew in the direction of Aschersleben and Bernburg . But in the same month support came from Prince Heinrich of Prussia and on February 1st the town of Hornburg was attacked and the French finally had to retreat to the Weser . His regiment was then transferred to Saxony. However, Jungkenn's state of health was already affected and so he asked for his release. He initially received the "von Grape" garrison regiment and diminished on March 8, 1759.

Thereupon he withdrew to his estate in Adelmannsfelden.
