In addition, Ehrenhauser applied for the suspension of Hans-Peter Martin as chairman of the Martin list delegation. Martin then dissolved the delegation of the Martin list in the EU Parliament.

In response to the complaint, Hans-Peter Martin filed a criminal complaint against Ehrenhauser, among other things because of suspicion of unlawful access to a computer system. However, shortly after Ehrenhauser's immunity was waived, the public prosecutor's office stopped the investigation.

The electoral alliance received 2.1 percent of the vote in the EU elections and thus did not make it into the European Parliament.

Political positions

A few months later, Ehrenhauser and the Financial Times Deutschland uncovered the SWIFT data leak. Contrary to the assertions of politicians that no intra-European bank data are affected by the SWIFT agreement, it has been proven that the SWIFT agreement also allows access to these. At Ehrenhauser's request, EU Interior Commissioner Cecilia Malmström had indicated the differentiation between SEPA and Swiftnet Fin data.

Publications

In addition, Ehrenhauser published the essay collections “Democracy in Danger?” And “More Courage, Citizens”.

Ehrenhauser also published a study on lobbying the security industry in Brussels. The study shows how the two lobby organizations GESA and EOS are closely linked to the political decision-makers and how decisions are influenced. The results of the study were reported in the taz , the Austrian news magazine profil and the German weekly newspaper Die ZEIT .

In another case study, Ehrenhauser analyzed how large companies that regularly break the law influence political decisions in the advisory bodies of the European Commission.

Together with the Linz photographer Jürgen Gründwald, Ehrenhauser wrote the photo book “Offstage”. This gives an insight "behind the scenes of the European Parliament". The pictures were awarded the “Out of the Box Award” in 2014.
