Martin Galia (born April 12, 1979 in Ostrava , Czechoslovakia ) is a Czech handball player .

He is a goalkeeper for the Polish club Górnik Zabrze and plays for the Czech national team . Martin Galia is 1.89 m tall. He has two children, his older brother Michael played for SC DHfK Leipzig .

Between 2004 and 2008 Galia played for Frisch Auf Göppingen , with whom he reached the 2006 final of the EHF Cup . In the 2005/2006 season he was the best goalkeeper in the Bundesliga with 508 saves. For the 2008/2009 season he moved to TBV Lemgo . On March 28, 2009, a doping control after a Bundesliga game detected the substance octopamine in his urine . After the B-sample was also positive, Galia was banned for six months and had to pay a fine of € 20,000. In 2010 he won the EHF Cup with the TBV. After the 2010/11 season, Galia moved from TBV Lemgo to league competitor TV Großwallstadt , where he played until 2013. From the 2013/14 season he was under contract with TSV St. Otmar St. Gallen . In the summer of 2016 he joined the Polish first division club Górnik Zabrze .
