Martin Patzek (born October 12, 1944 in Vechta ) is a German Roman Catholic theologian and priest .

Life

Martin Patzek was born in Vechta near Oldenburg . After graduating from high school in Mülheim an der Ruhr in 1965 , he studied philosophy and Catholic theology in Bonn , Würzburg and Bochum (graduation in 1969). In 1971 he was ordained a priest . After years of chaplaincy in the Witten district of Herbede St. Peter and Paul (1971), Duisburg St. Joseph (1971–1975) and Essen St. Hubertus (1975–1978) he was pastor in the church under soldiers in Augustdorf / Lippe (1978–1982 ) and Bonn (1982–1986). From 1986 to 1991 Martin Patzek was a student pastor at the Ruhr University and the Fachhochschulen in Bochum. In 1989 he received his theological doctorate in Freiburg ( Caritas Science ). Nine years later he received the papal honorary title of Papal Honorary Chaplain .

Act

Patzek was spiritual director of the Caritas conferences in Germany at the federal level (1986–2002); Caritas director and managing director of the Caritas association for the city of Duisburg (1991–1998); Spiritual companion of Caritas in the diocese of Essen (from 1998) and pastor in Vierzehnheiligen, Weitmar (until 2004) and is a lecturer in Caritas science at the Archbishop's Diaconal Institute in Cologne in the training of deacons for the (arch) dioceses of Aachen , Essen and Cologne (since 1999 ). He had a teaching position at the Catholic University of Applied Sciences North Germany “Institutional Conditions for Social Work” (2005) and was at the Landescaritasverband and Caritas-Sozialwerk Oldenburg / Vechta; Worked for the Katholische Pflegehilfe Essen and in various old people's homes. Patzek is there for advice and support, e.g. B. Coaching for managers in inpatient care facilities for the elderly as well as responsible for further and advanced training for employees in diaconal charitable associations, services and facilities. He is also the spiritual guide of the Theresia Albers Foundation and postulator of the Causa Theresia Albers ( beatification process ).
