Martin Soltík (born July 16, 1991 ) is a Czech grass skier . He has competed in the World Cup and World Championships since 2007 and won two medals at the 2011 Junior World Championship .

Career

Soltík drove his first FIS race in June 2006. A month later he took part in the Junior World Championships in Horní Lhota u Ostravy , but achieved with 24th place in the giant slalom and 37th place in the Super-G only placements in the bottom field. In the World Cup , the Czech started for the first time on August 11, 2007 in the giant slalom in Čenkovice , but could not qualify for the second round. The next day he won his first two World Cup points with 29th place in the slalom , which were his only points in the 2007 season , which is why he only came in 73rd and last place in the overall standings. In September 2007 Soltík took part in the World Championships in Olešnice v Orlických horách . With 49th place in the super combined and 56th place in the super-G, he was only able to classify himself in the bottom field. He did not start at the 2007 Junior World Championships.

In the 2008 season Soltík reached the world cup races in Čenkovice twelfth place in slalom and 21st place in giant slalom, which he came in 45th place overall. At the Junior World Championships in 2008 in Rieden , his best result was twelfth place in the slalom. In the giant slalom and in the super combined he was 22nd in the Super-G and 23rd in the Super-G. In the 2009 World Cup season , the Czech was five times under the fastest 25, his best result was 14th place in the slalom in Čenkovice. In the overall World Cup he was ranked 38th. At the Junior World Championships 2009 Soltík reached twelfth place in the slalom and 13th place in the super combination but only 27th place in the super-G. At the 2009 World Championships in Rettenbach , he finished 19th in slalom, 33rd in giant slalom and 42nd in Super-G.

In the World Cup season 2010 Soltík suffered numerous failures. Only in the seventh World Cup race, the Super-G of Dizin on August 6th, was he able to score for the first and only time with 24th place. At the 2010 Junior World Championship , which was also held in Dizin , he was eighth in the super combined and 13th in the super G. In the slalom and giant slalom, he did not finish. After that he only took part in the World Cup slalom in Faistenau , but was disqualified. In the overall World Cup he fell back to 49th place. On August 13th, 2011 Soltík reached eleventh place in the super combined of San Sicario and thus his best World Cup result at that time. With three further top 15 placements, he achieved 21st place in the overall World Cup in the 2011 season. At the Junior World Championships 2011 in Goldingen , Soltík won two silver medals in slalom and in combination behind the Austrian Hannes Angerer . He finished fourth in the giant slalom and seventh in the Super-G. At the General Class World Championship, which was also held at the same time , he started in giant slalom and Super-G, but only finished 18th in giant slalom.

In the 2012 season , Soltík reached his first top 10 result in the World Cup with tenth place in the giant slalom of Předklášteří . In another four races he was among the fastest 15, but in the overall World Cup he fell four places to 25th compared to the previous year.
