Martin Tetsuo Hiraga ( Japanese マ ル チ ノ 平 賀 徹夫 , Maruchino Hiraga Tetsuo ; born January 20, 1945 in Hanamaki , Iwate Prefecture ) is a Japanese clergyman and emeritus Roman Catholic bishop of Sendai .

Life

Martin Tetsuo Hiraga was ordained a priest on September 16, 1974 .

Pope Benedict XVI appointed him bishop of Sendai on December 10, 2005 . He donated his episcopal ordination to Archbishop of Tokyo , Peter Takeo Okada , on March 4, 2006; Co- consecrators were Marcellino Taiji Tani , Bishop of Urawa , and Tarcisio Isao Kikuchi SVD , Bishop of Niigata .

On March 18, 2020, Pope Francis accepted Martin Tetsuo Hiraga's resignation due to reasons of age.
