Martina Severin-Kaiser

Martina Severin-Kaiser , née Martina Severin (born February 21, 1959 in Eutin ; † July 8, 2016 in Hamburg ) was a German Evangelical Lutheran cleric. She was active in various offices and functions in the Northern Church and other church institutions. Since December 2015 she has been the main pastor at the main church St. Petri in Hamburg.

Life

Martina Severin spent her school days in Lübeck . After graduating from high school, she studied Protestant theology and history in Münster , Tübingen , Jerusalem and Hamburg. During her studies in Jerusalem she worked in interreligious and Christian ecumenical initiatives. From 1987 to 1996 she was pastor of the Martin Luther King congregation in Hamburg-Steilshoop . She then took care of the German-speaking Protestant congregation in Brussels and Wallonia until 2004 . In 2004 Severin-Kaiser became the ecumenical officer of the North Elbian Evangelical Lutheran Church and then of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in North Germany . Until the end of 2015, she was also the managing director of the Hamburg Working Group of Christian Churches (ACK), an association of currently 36 different churches and congregations. On April 22nd, 2015, the synod of the Hamburg-Ost church district elected Severin-Kaiser as the successor to Christoph Störmer as senior pastor to Sankt Petri. In addition, Severin-Kaiser was volunteer at the German Evangelical Church Congress . From 2009 until her death she was the Christian chairman of the working group Jews and Christians.

Martina Severin-Kaiser was married to Matthias Kaiser, pastor of the Tabita parish in Hamburg-Ottensen , and the mother of three children.

Martina Severin-Kaiser was buried in the Bernadottestrasse cemetery in Hamburg.
