Mary Ann Nyberg

Mary Ann Nyberg (born February 7, 1923 in Tulsa , Oklahoma , † February 19, 1979 in Montreal , Québec , Canada ) was an American costume designer who was nominated twice for the Oscar for best costume design.

Life

Mary Ann Nyberg first worked with Lili (1953) by Charles Walters with Leslie Caron , Mel Ferrer and Jean-Pierre Aumont as a costume designer in the production of a film. Between 1953 and 1955 she was involved in the costume design of only five films.

Curtain up for your second film ! (The Band Wagon, 1953), one of Vincente Minnelli with Fred Astaire , Cyd Charisse and Oscar Levant staged revue film , she was at the Oscars in 1954 for the Oscar for Best Costume Design in a color film nominated.

Her second Academy Award nomination for Best Costume Design in a color film received Mary Ann Nyberg 1955 together with Jean Louis and Irene Sharaff for a new star in the sky (A Star Is Born, 1954) by George Cukor with Judy Garland , James Mason and Jack Carson in the leading roles.
