Mary Catherine McCormack (* 8. February 1969 in Plainfield , New Jersey ) is an American actress .

Life and accomplishments

McCormack graduated from Wardlaw-Hartridge School in Edison , New Jersey in 1987 . She then studied English and painting at Trinity College in Hartford , Connecticut . Already as a twelve year old child she appeared in the opera Amahl and the nocturnal visitors . In 1994 she appeared in an episode of the television series Law & Order . From 1995 to 1997 she starred in the television series Murder One - The Jessica case .

Acting career

McCormack played the role of Frances , friend and accomplice of Shannon ( Minnie Driver ) in the comedy Crimes Seduced (2001 ). In the science fiction drama K-PAX (2001) she took on one of the bigger roles on the side of Kevin Spacey and Jeff Bridges . For the impersonation of Kate Harper in the television series The West Wing , she was nominated for the Screen Actors Guild Award in 2005 and 2006 as a member of the acting ensemble . From 2008 to 2012 McCormack played the lead role as Mary Shannon in the drama series In Plain Sight on the US cable broadcaster USA Network . She also made a guest appearance as Mary Shannon in Criminal Intent .

Personal

McCormack has been married to Michael Morris since 2003 and has three daughters.
