The Marzellferner is a glacier in the Ötztal Alps in Tyrol . It is located on the north side of the Schnalskamm , which represents the border with South Tyrol ( Italy ), north of Similaun (3606 m) and Hinterer Schwärze (3628 m). The 1975 glacier inventory determined an area of 5.1 km²; more recent data are not publicly available.

The nutrient area is divided into two parts by the northwest ridge of the western Marzellspitze (3540 m). The western part starts on the north side of the Similaun. At the Similaunjoch (3349 m) there is a connection to the south-exposed Grafferner . The eastern part is framed in the south by the western, middle and eastern Marzellspitze (up to 3355 m) and the Hinteren Schwärze. At the Hinteren-Schwärzen-Joch (3393 m), the Marzellferner reaches up to the Schalfferner to the east . More ice flows from the south and west flanks of the Mutmalspitze (3528 m). The Marzellkamm forms the western boundary of the glacier in the Zehr area.

The Marzellferner used to be connected to the two glaciers coming from the east. To the east of today's Martin-Busch-Hütte , the glacier tongues of Marzellferner and the somewhat larger Schalfferner merged . This connection has not existed since the 1920s. Mid-1930s tore the connection to the steeply from Mutmalkamm coming down Mutmalferner from, since these ends already far above the eastern edge of moraine of Marzelferners.
