Mase (officially called Mage until 1902 ) is a civic community with a civic council and until December 31, 2010 was a political municipality in the Hérens district in the French-speaking part of the canton of Valais in Switzerland .

Community merger
In the referendum on February 24, 2008, the planned merger of the three municipalities Vernamiège , Nax and Mase only narrowly failed . Nax and Mase said yes, but Vernamiège rejected the project with 67 to 61 votes. Another referendum took place on September 7, 2008, in which all three municipalities accepted the project. The new municipality of Mont-Noble was created on January 1st, 2011.
