Masholder is a district (district) of Bitburg in the Eifelkreis Bitburg-Prüm in Rhineland-Palatinate . Until it was incorporated on June 7, 1969, Masholder was an independent municipality .
geography
The place is in the southern Eifel about 4 km south of the center of Bitburg. The Masholderbach - a tributary of the Nims - flows past Masholder .
history
According to tradition, the origins of the place Masholder go back to the 8th century. The village center still has old houses and the Saint Quirinus Chapel, which is around 220 years old. At all times in history, the main source of income for the population came from agriculture. This has only changed in the past few decades - especially after it was incorporated into the city of Bitburg.
politics
The interests of the Masholder district are represented by a local advisory council made up of seven members. The mayor is Thomas Kröffges.

Economy and Infrastructure
Due to the proximity to Bitburg, there are only a few service companies in Masholder . Several companies have settled in the Masholderer Höhe industrial park . One of the most important employers is the German Red Cross with an ambulance station. There is also a cabinet maker, a car workshop and a large tunnel technology company.

Masholder is located between the federal highways B 51 of the B 257 . There are bus connections to Bitburg, Trier , Prüm and Luxembourg City . There are connections to the Nimstal cycle path and the Kylltal cycle path on cycle paths .
Associations and associations
The Masholder volunteer fire brigade and the parish are important bearers of cultural customs . The fire brigade is currently the only active association in Masholder. It is subdivided into the Masholder Youth Fire Brigade, the Voluntary Fire Brigade and the Masholder Fire Brigade Support Association.
