Matzen is a district ( local district ) of Bitburg in the Eifelkreis Bitburg-Prüm in Rhineland-Palatinate . Until 1969 Matzen was an independent municipality .
geography
The place is located in the Eifel northeast of Bitburg city center. The Matzenbach , a right tributary of the Kyll, runs through Matzen .
Matzen to include the residential places Anwändershof, Kempenhof, Sonnenhof (Restaurant and Villa) and the forest settlement.
history
From 1436 the place was assigned to the parish of Rittersdorf with all rights and duties and remains so until 1806.
Napoleon expropriated the church property in 1802 and auctioned it off. On April 5, 1815, Matzen was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia after having belonged to the Netherlands and Luxembourg for 700 years .
As part of the administrative reform that came into force on June 7, 1969, the formerly independent municipality was incorporated into the city of Bitburg.
politics
The interests of the Matzen district are represented by a local advisory council, which has seven members. The head of the village is Paul Sonnen.
