Matata is an East Timorese Suco in the Railaco administrative office ( municipality of Ermera ).

Before the 2015 territorial reform, Matata had an area of ​​8.75 km². Now it is 6.75 km². The Suco is located in the west of the Railaco administrative office. To the east are the sucos Liho and Tocoluli . In the south, Matata borders the administrative office Ermera with its Sucos Ponilala and Poetete and the administrative office Bazartete with its Suco Leorema belonging to the municipality of Liquiçá . The Gleno , a tributary of the Lóis, forms the southern border to the Ermera administrative office .

To the east of Matata are the villages of Titibuti ( Titi Buti ) and Tarmausoru (Taemausouru) . The towns of Colaco , Mauane and Gorema are centrally located .

The four Aldeias Colaco , Mauane , Tarmausoru and Titibuti are located in the Suco .

Residents

1373 inhabitants live in the Suco (2015), of which 712 are men and 661 women. The population density is 203.3 inhabitants / km². There are 231 households in the Suco. Over 50% of the population name Tetum Prasa as their mother tongue. Over 48% speak Mambai and a small minority speak Kemak .

In the elections of 2004/2005 was Gil Lobato Pereira elected Chefe de Suco and in 2009 re-elected.

economy

The vast majority of the population in Suco make a living from agriculture. Manioc, corn and coffee are grown by over 90% of families. Coconuts, fruits and vegetables are also harvested. The livestock are 1500 chickens, 300 pigs, 100 goats, 80 cattle, 15 horses and a few sheep and water buffalo.
