Taraco ( Taraso , Taraço ) is an East Timorese suco in the Railaco administrative office ( municipality of Ermera ).

Before the 2015 territorial reform, Taraco had an area of ​​10.76 km². Now it is 10.95 km². The Suco is located in the northeast of the Railaco administrative office. To the southwest lies the Suco Liho , to the south the Sucos Railaco Craic , Railaco Leten and Deleso and southeast of the Suco Samalete . In the north Taraco borders on the administrative office Bazartete belonging to the municipality Liquiçá with its sucos Ulmera and Tibar and in the northeast on the administrative office Laulara belonging to the municipality Aileu with its Suco Fatisi . The border with Railaco Craic and Liho is formed by the Balele river , which joins the Mata Hare coming from the west at the border with the municipality of Liquiçá and then forms the Comoro . The Comoro then follows the border between Taraco and Liquiçá.

To the south of Taraco are the villages of Datoleo and Laqueco ( Lakeko ). The primary school Escola Primaria No. is located in Laquco . 249 Taraco .

The two Aldeias Datoleo and Laquco are located in the Suco .

Residents

587 inhabitants live in the Suco (2015), of which 289 are men and 298 women. The population density is 53.6 inhabitants / km². There are 123 households in the Suco. Almost 58% of the population name Tetum Prasa as their mother tongue. 41% speak Mambai and small minorities speak Idalaka , Isní , Baikeno , Atauru or Tetum Terik .

In 1975, 70 Sucos residents of Taraco and Samalete fled into the woods after intimidation by UDT supporters . At the same time, seven UDT members were murdered by FRETILIN supporters. The murdered are said to have been involved in murders of FRETILIN supporters themselves. Another FRETILIN supporter was later killed by UDT members in revenge.

politics

In the 2004/2005 elections , Augusto dos Santos was elected Chefe de Suco. In the 2009 elections won Graciano de Jesus .
