Lutz Mathesdorf

Lutz Mathesdorf (born June 2, 1963 in Neumünster ) is a German comic artist and children's book author.

Mathesdorf is a qualified social pedagogue. During his studies he published his first works. For example, after a stay in New York in 1988, the AIDS prevention comic Condomas , which was published by Borbyer Werkstatt Verlag, and also in 1988 Once Upon a Time ... , a fairy tale about pill abuse with illustrations by Lutz Mathesdorf at the youth protection campaign in Kiel.

In 1992 his first regular comic strips were printed in Holsteinischer Courier , Neumünster and Wochenend Magazin. This series of Bauer Harms from Klein Kummerfeld ran weekly in the Schleswig-Holstein farmers ' newspaper until 2012 . In 1994 and 1996 he self-published two Bauer Harms volumes.

Mathesdorf also founded the artists' association The Stormy North , which included Kim Schmidt , Volker Sponholz , Jörg Reymann and Markus Huber, among others .

In 1996 he published the comic Bertis Buben with Volker Sponholz in Rowohlt- Verlag. The comic book about the German national football team became the best-selling , (Place 37 of the mirror - bestseller list ), the successor of his band in 1998 Berti's boys 2, on to France was even exceeded. (No. 12 on the Spiegel bestseller list) Three more football comic books were published by 2002 before Sponholz continued the series on his own.

In 1998 Mathesdorf also began working with Kim Schmidt. Our Schumi , a comic about the Formula 1 driver Michael Schumacher , was published by Carlsen Verlag and was also a great sales success. The volume was followed by two more volumes at Carlsen and Achterbahn. In 2002 Mathesdorf made another Schumi volume in collaboration with the illustrator Gabriel for the Achterbahn Verlag .

In 2003 Carlsen Verlag published Quek, the frog ghost, Mathesdorf's first pixie children's book .

In the meantime he developed various comic series for Big Brother magazine , TV Today and the woman of today . In 2004 he founded together with Michael Hopp and January Wickman the Tiger Press publishing house. Until 2006 he was chief draftsman for the newly published comic magazine Fix and Foxi .

Lutz Mathesdorf has been working as an animated film producer for TV and advertising since 2008.

In 2017 Mathesdorf started producing the "Youtube" cartoon series "Just Cartoons" by the cartoonist Gabriel.

Today Lutz Mathesdorf lives in Seedorf and has two sons.
