Matthew Skoller (* in New York ) is an American harmonica player.
Like many blues musicians of his generation, he was influenced by Bob Dylan , Neil Young , Jimi Hendrix and the Allman Brothers as well as by blues legends like Little Walter , Muddy Waters , Percy Mayfield . After moving to Chicago in 1987, he played with Jimmy Rogers , Big Time Sarah and Deitra Farr. In the late 1980s he played and toured with Big Daddy Kinsey & The Kinsey Report.
From 1992 he played with his own band. His composition "Love Her, Don't Shove Her" was recorded by both Carey Bell (1997 on Good Luck Man) and H-Bomb Ferguson (1993 on Wiggin 'Out), the legendary blues and boogie pianist.
As a producer he worked with Lurrie Bell (Let's Talk About Love), he also produced "Chicago Blues A Living History", in this project he also played the harmonica. Billy Boy Arnold , John Primer , Billy Branch and Lurrie Bell play on the 2 CDs that document the Chicago blues from their beginnings to the present day . The Matthew Skoller Band has regular appearances in the most famous venues in the USA (Buddy Guy's Legend, Chicago House of Blues, etc.) He has also appeared at blues festivals around the world, recently frequently with Chicago Blues A Living History (Cazorla Blues Festival, North Sea Jazz Festival, Chicago Blues Festival , Luzern Blues Festival ...)
