Matthias "Metty" Krings (born September 13, 1943 in Gerolstein ; actually Peter Paul Krings ) is a German television presenter , singer , actor and producer . He has been a Luxembourg citizen since 1997 .

Life

Krings grew up in Fremersdorf in the Saarland and went to high school in Dillingen . After graduating from high school, he first studied graphics at the Saarbrücken Art School and became an art teacher . His last job as a teacher was at the secondary school in Saarburg .

During his studies and his time as a teacher, he worked as a chansonnier and songwriter, to which radio and television became aware early on. At the Chanson Festival at Waldeck Castle in 1965 he was scheduled to be one of the interpreters alongside Hanns Dieter Hüsch and Reinhard Mey , but left the festival prematurely because he did not like the themes of the songs performed. In 1972 Krings won a competition in Stern to write a title for the band The Hollies ; as this band split up soon, however, the performer Jimmy Patrick sang the song.

As a participant in an adult team at his school, he took part in the television program Punkt, Punkt, Komma, Strich in 1972 and was approached by Frank Elstner during the recording . Krings then applied to Elstner and, after quitting school, switched to Radio Luxemburg in 1974 as a presenter . His best-known radio broadcasts included the "Hörergrußlotterie", "Metty's Party", "RTL-Party", the "Smart Hour" and "The Happy Alarm Clock". In 1987 Krings left RTL's radio department.

From 1984 he regularly ran the program on RTL plus and was the presenter of various programs ( Die 12 , Wer bin ich? ). As a trained educator, Krings became head of the developing station for children and youth programs and was seen regularly from 1984 and mainly from 1988/89 as a presenter of children 's programs . His first children's program was RTL Mini-Plus (1984–1986), but his best-known program was certainly Li-La-Launebär (1988–1994).

In 1993 Matthias Krings founded the production company Mettymedia together with his wife Bibi Wintersdorf . In addition to the programs he moderated, Krings also produced numerous other programs such as Der HAIsse Stuhl (a children's version of Explosiv - The Hot Chair ) or the children's hit parade MiniStars . Krings also developed programs for ZDF , KI.KA , ProSieben and Super RTL .

Krings' last show on television was the Super RTL format Super, Metty! (1998-1999). Since then, he has tended to focus on his music career and several CDs with children's songs produced with even gold were excellent. In 2005 the musical Metty and the Mettymäuse , written by Krings, started in the Trier Theater , in which he also played the leading role. Less well-known, but no less successful, was his career as a songwriter for the native duo Judith & Mel , for whom he wrote titles such as “Am alten Leuchtturm”, “Du, hör mal” and “My Hawaii is called Norderney”. The biggest success to date was the song “Land im Norden” with the award of several folk music prizes. Since 2009 Krings has been composing his own chansons again and in 2010 toured with Peter Klasen with his program LebensVerfahrungen through small establishments and open-air performances.

Since September 15, 2008, Metty and Axel Fitzke have been hosting a radio program on “De Neie Radio” (DNR, Luxembourg) from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. He also writes weekly columns on television for the Luxembourg magazine " Télécran ".

Matthias Krings lived privately in Dillingen / Saar, then for a long time in Luxembourg, where he had already met while working for RTL Radio Bibi Wintersdorf (among other things, producer of numerous programs in RTL children's program, ZDF, Super RTL), whom he met in 1992 after nine years got married. Both were married until 2008 and have a daughter.
