Matthias Samuil

Matthias Samuil (* 1979 in Berlin ) is a German pianist, song accompanist and university teacher.

Matthias Samuil received his first piano lessons at the age of 6 and attended the Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach music high school in Berlin for gifted music .

After graduating from high school, he first studied philosophy and musicology at the Humboldt University in Berlin . He then completed his studies as a concert pianist with Annerose Schmidt and Hella Walter at the renowned Hanns Eisler University of Music in Berlin and attended master classes by Murray Perahia , Leon Fleisher , Brigitte Engerer and Graham Johnson .

In addition, Matthias Samuil devoted himself intensively to song accompaniment, chamber music and opera accompaniment, studied with Wolfram Rieger , Walter Olbertz and Semion Skigin and received valuable suggestions from working with Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau , Krassimira Stoyanova , Deborah Polaski and Johan Botha .

As a soloist and piano accompanist, he has won several prizes at national and international competitions, and was a scholarship holder of the Education & Talent Association , the Richard Wagner Association and the Live Music Now association founded by Yehudi Menuhin .

Career

Matthias Samuil is one of the popular piano partners of the younger generation and regularly gives concerts alongside important singers such as Olga Peretyatko , Pavol Breslik , Michaela Kaune , Mandy Fredrich , Marina Prudenskaya, Dmitry Korchak, Nadja Michael , Anna Samuil , Lena Belkina , Dimitry Ivashchenko, Elena Maximova, Alfredo Daza , Julia Novikova , Roman Trekel , Evelin Novak , Patrick Vogel, Slávka Zámečníková or Joseph Dennis.

His intensive concert activities have taken him to the Berlin Philharmonic , the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía Valencia, the Staatsoper Unter den Linden and the Deutsche Oper Berlin , the Muziekgebouw Amsterdam, the Tonhalle Zurich , the Philharmonie Essen and the Theater am Goetheplatz Bremen, the Internationale House of Music Moscow, the Centro Cultural de Belém Lisbon as well as Dresden, Cologne, Hamburg, Munich, Vienna, Paris, Prague, Saint Petersburg, Basel, Lausanne, Krakow and other cities in Germany, France, Italy, Russia, Poland, Croatia , Latvia, Azerbaijan, Switzerland and the USA.

Matthias Samuil has also made guest appearances at the festivals in Aix-en-Provence and Sion, at the Jerusalem International Chamber Music Festival , Gabala International Music Festival and Riga Jūrmala Music Festival , at the festivals in Baden-Baden, Dresden and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and at the chamber music festival intonations in Berlin. In 2014 he gave a gala concert at the Winter Olympics in Sochi (Russia) and made his debut as a soloist with Mozart's Piano Concerto in A major KV 414 in the Great Hall of the Konzerthaus Berlin .

His artistic work is documented through radio and television recordings as well as CD recordings.

Matthias Samuil was already teaching at the University of Potsdam during his first years of study and has been a lecturer in song composition and opera accompaniment at the Hanns Eisler University of Music in his home town of Berlin since 2006 .

Personal

Matthias Samuil is married to the Russian opera singer Anna Samuil . They live in Berlin with their son.
